Network Files

A word of caution to educators storing and accessing files on network drives. While an entirely acceptable means of storing submissions, there is a potential bottleneck based on the performance of your network infrastructure.

The first task Galileo preforms when processing a set of submissions is to do a bunch of file manipulations. These sorts of operations can cause significant delays across a network. Following that manipulation, Galileo reads in all the content from the files. These two steps can potentially stall out the processing process leading to extended processing times.

For optimal performance, it is recommended that local copies of files be used when targeting a process.
